Mark Shull Joins Robinson Group Strategic Communications
HARRISBURG, Pa. (Nov. 3, 2006) -- Mark D. Shull, a veteran public relations strategist with extensive federal disaster planning and environmental risk communications experience, has joined Robinson Group Strategic Communications, LLC. He will work in the agency’s Harrisburg offices as a senior counselor.
Shull previously was a manager and public outreach specialist at the Abingdon, Md., facilities of Innovative Emergency Management, Inc. (IEM), a firm based in Baton Rouge, La. His clients there included the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Army and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
“Mark brings 27 years of experience in government, not-for-profit and corporate public relations to the Robinson Group,” said Ken Robinson, agency president. “His skills in strategic planning, marketing and training will greatly enhance our client services.”
For DHS, Shull worked with government public affairs officials from across the country to identify best practices in the field of emergency public information and public education. During the 2004 and 2005 Hurricane seasons, he supported FEMA’s public affairs activities in the initial response and aftermath of natural disasters including Hurricane Katrina.
He is co-author of Environmental Risk Communications, Principles and Practices for Industry—a how-to book for companies working with environmental regulations. As a consultant, his knowledge of environmental risk communications has benefited several Fortune 500 companies.
Shull began his career as a television news photographer at WHTM-TV, Harrisburg. He holds a B.A. degree in Communications/Journalism from Shippensburg University and attended Temple University, Harrisburg. A central Pennsylvania native, he lives with his wife, Beth, and their two children, Martin and Drew, near Mechanicsburg.
