Susquehanna Workforce Network preparing local workforce for BRAC job openings
Havre de Grace, Md – With more than 10,000 new DoD civilian and contractor jobs anticipated coming to Aberdeen Proving Ground as a result of 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Act, the Susquehanna Workforce Network will continue to be a resource to residents of the area who wish to pursue these new positions.

In order to adequately prepare for this task the Susquehanna Workforce Network contracted with a team of experts to conduct a workforce analysis of BRAC related occupations and skill sets. The support contract was awarded to Logistics and Acquisition Partners, Robinson Group Strategic Communications, LLC and A. Bright Idea Advertising and Public Relations. The Susquehanna Workforce Network selected this team because of their expertise in Government personnel management and public relations capabilities, which includes BRAC experience and knowledge of the local community.

“BRAC brings our region both significant opportunities and challenges,” said Bruce England, Executive Director of the Susquehanna Workforce Network. “Aberdeen Proving Ground plays not only an important role in our nation's defense but is intricately linked with the economic growth and vitality of our region and other industry sectors. It is our responsibility to ensure the region has a skilled workforce that can support, sustain, and grow with this expanded economy.”

Working with the consulting team, the Susquehanna Workforce Network plans to produce detailed information on the types of jobs available. This information will be shared with residents who wish to seek these new positions and will be available by late June 2007.

The Susquehanna Workforce Network is a non-profit organization charged with the development and coordination of the workforce system for Cecil and Harford Counties. The Network operates three workforce centers, provides workforce support services to the business community, and facilitates the delivery of services to youth (the emerging workforce).
