Ken Robinson, APR
President
Ken brings his own successful public relations practice to Robinson Group Strategic Communications, LLC.. His clients include the Harrisburg YMCA, Pennsylvania State Bank, Pipeline Interactive, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians, the Pennsylvania Council of Chief Juvenile Probation Officers and PMSLIC, a medical liability insurance provider.
Ken founded his practice in 1999 after serving as vice president of the Pennsylvania Medical Society. While there, he served on the American Medical Association's Communication Advisory Panel.
Before that, he was communications director and chief spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. Ken's experience handling reporters during prison riots and other crises led the Governor's Office to select him to head emergency preparedness training for all state agency communications staff.
He also worked with PEMA - the state Emergency Management Agency - to present training sessions for county emergency management and law enforcement personnel.
In the early 1980s, he served as a consultant and trainer for the National Institute of Corrections at its national academy in Boulder, Colorado. He continues to conduct media training sessions for numerous organizations.
He is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America and in 1998 served as president of its Central Pennsylvania Chapter, one of three chapters in the state. In 1998, he received the Leuschner Award for Excellence in Public Relations.
Ken studied business administration at Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre and multi-media journalism at Penn State University. He began his career in broadcast news at WBAX-AM Radio in Wilkes-Barre.
